[R-390] YOU DO NOT WANT TO COME TO THE SOUTH

It is quite difficult living down here. People saying "thank you" and
"please" and "yes mam", "yes sir" would just make some people crazy.

You would need to realize too that driving on the interstates down here is
"a blood sport". and there are cases where folks get mighty irritated if you
do 65 mph in the left lane.

It is also "very" expensive to live down here. I have to pay almost $900/
year in property taxes on my 92 acres of forest. Yes, the 'govmnt folks are
out to get us. Those darned deer tear up my Beverage antennas and sometimes
it is so violent down here 'cause we get on our front porch to do target
practice with our rifles. We all know that corrosion is the enemy of a steel
rifle barrel so they need to be shot quite regularly, sometimes until
midnight or so.

It really bothers me that I fire up a receiver and the noise floor is down
around -120 to -130 dBm. Where by God is the electrical interference that we
all grew up with?

Really though, there are some disadvantages; Electrical reliability is not
that great so you need to stock up candles. Nobody knows how to drive on
snow or ice and just the mention of the word SNOW causes people to go crazy
and hit the stores to buy up all of the milk and bread. Lightning does a
direct strike on my house 2-3 times a year so I do not invest too much into
network switches as they keep on getting fried. There has not been a place
that would do pizza delivery to my house for almost 10 years. I get to have
pizza when I am stuck in a hotel on a business trip. (and it is a luxury).

I used to let hunters on the land during deer season until one rather lazy
hunter decided to clean a carcass by my house (so he could use the garden
hose) and left a pile of entrails in my yard (nice). Now if I hear folks in
the woods I use the shotgun with a load of bird-shot like a grenade launcher
and put a load of pellets way up high into the trees so they can hear the
pellets coming down around them. They usually leave if they can unlock the
chain that I put across the road.
