Hi,
I started SWL when in the Army in the 1960's.
Bought some kind of SONY World band shortwave receiver in the PX.
It did not survive long in the environment.

About 5 years ago (for some unknown reason) I wanted to see what was available for casual SWL,
and bought a SONY ICF-SW07 shortwave receiver w/ loop antenna.

After using it for a while, I wanted to know what
signals were out there that the little SONY was missing.

Googlling blindly for "best sensitivity hf receiver" had some Collins R-390 and R-390A hits.

I remembered working for a place long ago that sold Collins Galaxy ACD systems, which were impressive
to me at the time, so I kept investigating.

After reading about R-390's, and finding so many web sites with such a passion about these
receivers, I started looking for and bought one...and then another....and then.....

So a couple years ago, after putting up a ROHN 25 and an Alpha-Delta DX Ultra for the first
acquisition (R-390A), I became infected with the urge to transmit, so obtained a General ticket
and a Yaesu for UHF/VHF/HF.

Then I found out that Collins also made transmitters and amplifiers and and and

I can stop buying Collins gear ANY TIME I WANT TO.
I just don't want to, OK?
