Hi, Roger,
It looks like there is a misprint on Figures 12-04 and 12-05 -- C-553 is shown as C-533.
In these two illustrations the cap is shown lying horizontally. In Figure 12-06 it is correctly labelled and lies vertically. Notice that in all instances C-553 is connected to L-505.
It matters not in which position C-553 lies -- it's simply a matter of getting the replacement cap to fit in nicely. It's very crowded in there! Use spaghetti on the leads as Chuck Rippel suggests.

Thank you Bob. That is clear enough. Sometime, take a look at the Y2K
Manual chapter 12 page 5. I'm sure its not bad info. I'm probably just
reading it wrong.
