The ODs are better in every way compared to the original paper caps, 
so you have done no harm.  Ceramics are superior for the reasons you 
note plus the much higher self-resonant frequency (i.e., they are 
effective at bypassing to much higher frequencies).  And yes, quality 
ceramic capacitors should outlive you by a long, long time.
