Group,
Spent some time looking for Larry Wares rules without success.
Queried the original Boatanchors list and got several replies.
Here's the 1997 version:
The rules:
Here's the most important rule: I *would* like shipping
reimbursed, lately some of you have been forgetting that the USPS
requires real money, (That's the government for you... always expect
you to pay first, maybe get something later... :-)
1) You get to pay the shipping.
Winners will be determined by:
2) Tell me why you need/want them, points awarded for:
a) For the books, you must be willing to quote them back to me on
request.
b) Needing them to complete a project or repair.
c) It's for someone you're "Elmer-ing."
d) *Making up an outrageous story of what you will use them for. :-)
* For item "d" the taller and more unbelievable the better...
Hamsters, Lawyers, and space alien Hamster lawyers
in Newark who "phone home" are good. Stories about Tooth
Faerie(s), gold fillings, or how the CIA is spying
on you by listening to your teeth, are also good.
Stories about Nipper, Radio Control, Secret Societies,
or how the secret Societies used radio control on Nipper,
get extra points for the tie breaker round this time...
:-)
3) Bonus points to anyone who has sent me a manual, helped
me find a part, or provided advice, (good or bad, it's the effort that
counts. :-) or sold me something at a reasonable price.
4) Bonus points to everyone who posts thoughtful technical messages
to the BA list.
Winners will be determined any darn way I feel like.
Judges decision is final.

Larry lost his job in 2002, and dropped off the list leaving dead links
behind. In some ways, he was like Nolan on this list in his way with words.
