Several years ago, Chuck was offering tube and parts kits for the R390A.
At that time, I thought that Collins engineered 390 class receivers were
the peak of vacuum tube technology. I still do, but they became too
heavy
to lift so I sold them for "pass it on" prices.
Now I find a box with a bag of Rippel's tubes for the 390A, including
two
good 3TF7 and 4 26Z5W in a set of 31 tubes. Another Rippel bag contains
a bunch of parts including Z216, T208, slugs, T501, 2,and 3, C553 and
C549 as 600 VDC Orange Drops, and 16 Erie trimmer caps for the RF deck.
Thrown in as floor sweepings are a cable harness with most female
connectors,
a 200 KC calibrator as an octal plug-in oven, and a Radio Shack pool
speaker
(valued for its high frequency response) with a 32-1031 line to voice
coil
transformer wired for 600 ohms.
Would like $150 for the box, plus a "Rules of Ware" story about why you
want
the box. The best story takes precedence over the first reply.
Happy Time Change Day (in the US)
Bill Hawkins
