[R-390] HP 606A: Seeking cabinet and RF shield UPDATE

There was one black beauty and one small axial-lead electrolytic.
I replaced them without even checking them. And some of the
coils had come loose and needed to be glued back onto the turrets.

It works, on all bands, AM and CW. I think it's a winner,
so now I'm truly interested in a shield and cabinet. (I have
hear that the cabinet is common to many instruments of the
same vintage. However, the manual lists it as part number
606A-44A-2, which sounds unique. I'll keep my eyes peeled
anyway.)
I am also looking for expert opinion regarding the serial number.
That is, I can't find one anywhere. Examination of the circuit
indicates the prefix is either 943 or 009. The difference is
Change C in the scan of 00606-90013 available at Agilent.
This change replaced the coil forms with new ones that were
interchangeable with the old. No further information is given,
but my coils do not match the drawings. The manual shows
allen-head tuning cores, while most of my coils have a slotted
6-32 stud. Are these the older ones?

Thanks,
Dave Wise

Subject: HP 606A: Seeking cabinet and RF shield

I just found a present on my doorstep. It's an HP 606A RF Signal Generator.
It's only the bare chassis, and the RF shield that covers the tuning
coils etc is gone. Other than that it's untouched and complete, and I wouldn't
be surprised at all if it worked. But without the shield it's pretty much useless
as a generator, as it will leak RF all over the place, and who wants to run a
bare chassis? Does anyone have a cabinet and shield?

Thanks,
David Wise

I'm near Portland Oregon.
