The only hint I have is a Ted Dames ad clipped from an old QST.  I  clipped 
it because it offers R-390As just as I I bought from Ted in the  early 
'70s.  In the ad, he offers "excellent overhauled" radios for $595,  which is 
what I purchased. In the ad, he also offers "factory new sealed  box (3 only)" 
for $1150.  So there is some provenance for the Ebay  radio.  Thought I 
can't date the clipping, it assuredly is from the '70s,  when R-390 prices were 
high.
