Tisha,

I find that the 16 kc bandpass filter is just a bit too broad. I wish they
had an additional 12 kc setting that would be a better fit for SW/MW
listening.

This is where you wish you had a good sweep generator. You can set the band 
switch to 16 KHZ. then retune de tune mis tune the IF cans until you get a 
nice 12KHz band pass in the IF strip. Then you can just set the IF gain to 
give you needed overall receiver gain want to also get good short wave and AM 
signal to noise and sound.
