I was talking about only from the Oldham coupler back (just the PTO) so it wouldn't involve the slug racks, counter, etc.

As for the noise, yes, that's a point; however, it could be viewed as a trade-off between being spot-on frequency every time all the time (or at least as "spot-on" as the 17mc oscillator allows) versus some noise.

It was just a thought...
