Greg,
Welcome to the list. Get an antenna on the receiver and keep it turned on.
There is so much more on the radio than any where else.
Happy to hear you are also trying to get on the air. I do not get enough
time on the air myself. I am doing a whole house rebuild and put the
transmitter away until it was done.
If you have any problems with the receiver put a question into the list and
we will help.
There are many more readers than there are post. We try to get it on the
reflector so it gets preserved. We know a lot of Fellows start by reading on
the reflector. So we try to keep help on line through the reflector. One on
one direct post get do not get into the reflector so the help only goes
direct to one person. Not that one on one exchanges are bad. Some things should
just not be broadcast. But by putting help on the reflector and having it
preserved in the archives, a lot of good stuff gets documented. We have no clue
how many Folks have had a problem, read for a while in the archives and
solved their problem. Many thanks to Qth for the reflector and the subject
archives. While this is the R390 reflector, other subjects serve other
communities of common interest and provide similar service to the group of people
that subscribe and read on other topics.
Lack of man power (its all volunteer) keeps the archive from getting edited
as many wish would happen. Here on the R390 reflector we have a couple
Special Fellows who keep up R390 web pages for us. Then Wei-Li' has spent years
combing the daily post that become the archives and has put together the
Pearls Of Wisdom. Back before 2000 with Y2K upon us a group put the Y2K manual
together. I like all these resources. The Pearls will help you with a
problem area of your receiver. If you have a narrow dial up connection and cannot
just down load a CD in 8 minutes, The Y2K manual and Pearls Of Wisdom are
your references of choice. You can access it by section. Doing a bit of
research up front you can quickly find the part of the service manual or one of
the Pearls you need to work on a problem.
To pass the time and keep the reflector alive a few of us put up some stuff
that has marginal tangential value. But then we are working on our stand up
comic sticks for our other sources of income. A Fellow has got to do what a
Fellow has got to do. We know we have a group of readers. Many Fellows have
ask come by for a while and gotten help with their receivers. Someday if
they need some more help they will post a new question. We try to be of
service whenever to who ever needs it. We know how many Fellows and receivers are
still going strong because we were willing to give a few words of help when
ask for it.
But when we run out of real problems to work on, we digress. We hope some
folks enjoy the reading those days. If not then just delete the mail with
that thread we will never know. The flip side is you may just miss a great line
to slip into an other conversation some place else in your life.
Welcome
Roger Ruszkowski AI4NI
