Mike-
Your perspective should spark some interesting debate. I hope you are incorrect, but fear you might be right.
I will say that Ham Stuff on Craigslist seems to disappear pretty quickly, even at prices higher than those paid at a ham fest.
I sure haven't had the luck some of the others on this list have had...to have free R-390A's fall into their laps? I just paid $475 for a well-cared-for 1958 Motorola R-390A with after-market cabinet and speaker with an original TM. I'm happy as a clam!
Just please don't tell my XYL this stuff might be worthless in twenty years!!! I guess I'm looking forward to the "being overwhelmed" part of your scenario.
73,
Steve-N1GKX
PS I'll be glad to give some of your 9 boatanchors a new home!

Subject: Re: [R-390] Yard sale find
The sad reality about all this is that in the next 15-20 years all of this stuff will become worthless, the next generation has no interest in it, it means nothing to them. If it doesn't have a USB port and fit in your pocket it is JUNK!! I love my boatanchors and wish my kids felt the same way, but... I'm sure there will be collectors, however I don't think in the quantities we have today. I was recently given 9 boatanchor radios by a friend who is 73 years old and has cancer. I'm sure this scanario will be repeated all across the country and collectors like me will be overwhelmed with the stuff. Let's hope that the museums can deal with it all, and that someone will attend/support them!! (sorry to pee on the parade, but I'm worried) 73's Ross W1EKG
