Hi Group,
Thanks for the comments and kind words so far. I am going enjoy this list and hope to be able to learn from those who have been around the block a few times with these receivers. The sensitivity is equally poor on all bands.
I have not done the alignment yet but that was going to be the next step.. I have an HP 8640B sig gen and various meters and scopes. Looking at the Army manual, the? alignment looks straight forward.. I will also try swapping the 2 Mc cans as recommended.
I may look into getting a Ham ticket. I learned the code when I was in the Boy Scouts years ago and still remember it. I know it's not necessary to have code skills to get a license now but I think it would be fun. I do listen to slow code stations from time to time and manage to copy the code but I am not familiar with Q codes except QTH means location and RST is a signal report WX is weather; those seem to be in most sessions..
Again, thanks for advice on my RF deck problem and maybe I'll catch some of you fellows on the Ham bands soon..
