Scott,
I had to look it up to discover that C609 is the first audio cathode
bypass cap: 8uF, 30 volts.
My Y2K manual shows the cathode voltage at that point to be 2.4
volts. It's likely that the replaced cap worked ok in reverse at that
low voltage.
The original part was rated at 30 volts. You don't need that voltage,
since there is no surge voltage at that point like in a plate supply
for instance. So if you find a lower voltage part in the Junque Boxe,
don't worry about using it.
With due respect to the flogging of dead horses, you don't need a
tantalum cap: common electrolytic will work just fine.
