Yikes!

If that sells over the min bid I'd be sorley tempted to sell mine and pick up a "normal unit"!  Hope it doesn't sell!!!

At Nearfest this past weekend, George Rancourt did his latest installment in his R-390 talks.  This one was devoted mainly to the R-725.  I dragged up my Motorola prototype and George had his Motorola prototype there along with a Servo and Alvin production unit.  If this one sells at that price you could say that there was at least $6,000.00 worth of radios on two fold out tables straining at the weight!  In any event the talk was enjoyed by all.

I sold most of my "Junque" on Friday and spent lots of time explaining what the R-725 was.  At some point, getting bored of retelling the story, I told one interested fellow that I'd give him $1.00 if he told me what it was.  A quick glance and he said with a slight smile "Well, thats a R-725!"  He declined to take the dollar and we had a bit of a laugh.  It was John................. oops forgot his call.......  Todd help me here!..........  He was active on the list back in the Nolan Lee days.....  oh well a case of CRS.  

George had (IIRC) a '67 EAC R-390A on his table for sale.  There was also an R-390 up there that had a dead PS that was replaced by a heafty transformer bolted to the back and a toggle switch drilled into the front. susposed to be working fine but with a $600.00 price tag on it I'm sure it went home with the seller just as it did at the Boxborough convention at the end of last summer.  There was also a guy with assorted R-390 parts.

Other than a set of 6BJ6 tubes for my IF strip and a small knob I was missing,  I didn't buy any heavy metal.

Good to see some of you guys there and it would be interesting to see if I missed any R390 stuff there.
