[R-390] what other Collins boatanchor to compliment the R-390A?

Hi,
The more I use my R-390A for DX, the more I am learning to enjoy the HAM community. 
As previously predicted, I am beginning to contemplate obtaining a license so I can 
transmit too. 
I took a few of the on-line tests and did OK just with my acquired knowledge of 59 years, 
so when I find the correct textbook to study in earnest, I should be able to obtain the first level
of FCC license.

I would like to stick w/ Collins boatanchor era components, what should I look to purchase 
for a Collins amplifier and transmitter that would go well with the R-390A?
