Thanks for the info, Roy.  I wondered how the probe connected to the adapter.  I didn't think of 
unscrewing the probe tip, but I can see how that would work.

I had seen the xreference to the 455A as well, but haven't seen any of those available either.  
I'll have to keep watching "the bay".
