Another very good reference is MIL-HDBK-419.
This addresses EMP. Lightning is an EMP event as well as a nuclear explosion.

This handbook can be downloaded on the web.

It is titled "Grounding, Bonding and Shielding for Electronic 
Equipments ad Facilities" and is 812 pages.

It is good reading and a source of good information.

At a previous job, I also made a living evaluating sites for 
lightning damage susceptibility.
