Ok, Back to R-390A 's --- What do YOU do with yours?
Mine and my CV-591A stay on 24/7 9but with antenna disconnected if Im not
here) and listen mainly to civil and Military comms and Volmet broadcasts
for propogation checks."

It is indeed a pleasure to spend a few days on some other radio and then go
back to the dead quiet a an R-390A hooked up to a great antenna. I get
spoiled by the low noise floor and incredible sensitivity and every time I
use a different receiver I end up comparing it to the '390A.
I just wish I knew more languages so I could understand the programming on
some of the distant SW programs where the english language is not very
common.
Digging out those hard to hear utility stations, some ship in the South
Atlantic making a weather report or an aircraft over the Pacific is a real
treat. Losing the good 'ol powerhouses of the shortwave bands to local
broadcasting or DRM modes takes away the easy fun. It used to be that HCJB
or Radio Australia would be the sounds to wake up to in the morning.
