I worked at Teradyne, Inc, still the leading maker of automatic test
equipment, in the discrete component test division. We were a bit
baffled about why FET's used at the point in the circuit where voltage
tests were made were failing from time to time. The senior design
engineer won my admiration when he commented, " Maybe we just don't
yet know how to protect FETs in that sort of circuit."
I'd love to own a T-317 from that time (1970's) with or without my
initials in it from final system test.
