That's what the R-392 is for! Put two lighter plugs in series, plug into two different cars, don't let the cars touch, and you've got the 28V at 3 amps you need. Driving two cars down the road to keep your 392 running mobile is a pain but if you put little towers on the top and stretch a 135 foot dipole between them, you've got way of listening to the AM'ers on 75M.
