Well, then I'll continue to stay seated with a "stubby".

I wasn't: 1) An officer.  (crusty old Sr. NCO).  2) Was in the Signal Corps.

However, carrying PRC-6s, PRC-25s, PRC-74s, and a host of mobile mounted 
gear, I have often thought I may as well have been .

I DO however, understand that LPAs when multiples are used to home in 
for maximum signal, can be fed into a system of preamps, multicouplers 
and then receivers to increase gain.  You are certainly not going to 
rotate the Sterba Curtains! 

I learned the most about the workings and technology when I got my 
Amateur license.  That started to open memories of what I had previously 
been exposed to, and allowed me to have a MUCH better understanding of 
what I had seen for quite some time.
