While at McGuire AFB NJ in early 50's we had F-94B Starfighter
intercepters for ADC and SAC flew B-36's on operation signpost flights
at all diffeerent times and if GCI alerted us early enough for a launch,
like when the 36 crossed the Canadian border in Maine So. bound we could
get one pass on them at altitude and if lucky with a good RO and GCI op
we might get in line for a belly shot.
Before we got the 94's we had two squadrons of F-82F twin Mustans with
the RO in the right side and the mucho grande Radome in the middle
sticking out in front of the prop blades. with luck and skill might get
one pass at the beast as she went flying right on by. With all 10
running it was basically adiosbye bye.
IIRC the F-102 could play with her until close to Bingo Fuel state.
You always new when the 36 or the XC-99 was within 50 or so miles as the
sond was a tattle tale for surre.

Hank
They did have ARC-8's aboard
