[R-390] Netiquette

Group,

I don't think anyone is suggesting that fair trading be banned from the
list....whether it be for commercial interest or in support of the hobby.

The suggestion of creating a Black List, as a function of the r-390
reflector, of those who do trade and have had the unfortunate and subjective
experience of a "less than desirable" transaction is, in my opinion, beyond
the scope and intent of this list.

Someone who is a gross offender should casually be brought to the attention
of the membership. (and have been in the past...) If your Negative feedback
on the big auction site is running 2.5% of your totals and you have had 1.3%
of 3200 in the last 12 months Negative with another 1% listed as Neutral
then a buyer beware is probably in order because there is significant
evidence to do so. I would have to think hard before taking the chance of
being one of the next 74 dis-satisfied customers of his business dealings
over the next 12 months. On the flip side...I also have a better than 97%
chance of all being well.

If you keep a personal Black List of that info that's your decision and
business. But I don't support a suggestion that the list should get into
the business keeping and/or publishing a Black List.

Cecil...

I think it would be a shame if all trading, bartering, selling, buying were
banned from this list.

Clearly some folks are running on the boundary between "hobby" and
"profession" in terms of trading old radios. Personally I think this is a
poor boundary to erase, if old radios were my actual job I don't think
I'd enjoy them as much. But if there were no ability to trade around
radios, parts, and services, then the my enjoyment would be much less.
I picked up a good amount of useful parts over the years, and gotten some
other
folks some useful parts too, thanks to this list and usually with very
minimal
to no quantities of cash involved in the transaction, and never have had a
problem.
