Norman, my son,

You indeed have sinned but this is not a mortal sin. You must do penance.

Sit in front of the offended radio for 6 hours each week for a month.

Tune a variety of stations, and do the rosary ... er ... tuning and 
adjustment carefully for each station.  Use all the beads...  er ... knobs.

During times of bad reception, read the bible of the beast (The 21st 
Century R-390A/URR Technical Reference  A collection of wisdom for 
enthusiasts  Release 3.0, July 2007 Beta).

This will absolve your sin.
