I would like to add that listening to an AM station in ISB (one sideband
to the left ear, the other to the right) is an amazing experience.

It does not eliminate selective fading but instead makes you
much more aware of it.

There are ham-band direct conversion receivers that do I+Q/I-Q
demodulation independently to the two ears. Again, instead of
hiding stuff, it is remarkable for its ability to bring out stuff you
might not otherwise notice or hear. I don't particularly like direct
conversion receivers overall but it's a treat to put the band
inside my head :-).

Tim.
