[R-390] Slide rule calculations

Good question Roy;

Napier was responsible for inventing logarithms as a computing method. And
this led to devices that were called "napier's bones" which I believe are
credited to a fellow by the name of Gunter and basically were used
individually with a divider to add logs..

The invention of the slide rule was credited to a fellow by the name of
Oughtred, who was a monk btw. (TWO rules slid against one another and a
slider was not needed. The cursor was added later btw.)

ALL these used simple log-scales.

It was two centuries later Roget proposed the log-log scales for slide
rules... which are just as they sound; a log of (times) a log. Interestingly
no one else thought of it prior to him and it took almost another 100 years
for them to become a manufactured item !!
