Really, it boils down to MY not being goaded into something that:

1) Serves NO purpose except to satisfy someone's musings.

2) I'm too old to sit and play meaningless mind games.

3) I know precisely where my equipment is calibrated, and how to deal 
with it.

The Electronics Lab/Repair facility was at a University.

The placement of the decimal point has ALWAYS been done by scientific 
notation on PAPER whilst working on a problem.
