Leave it up to Barry to post one of those important questions that the  
rest of us have not thought of yet.

I think irrational numbers are easily worked on an abacus: you simply  
have to have an abacus from those folks who make the "cross field  
antennas"  You know, the ones that don't behave according to Maxwells  
laws of electrodynamics?  It's easy, simply temporarily suspend the  
fundamental principles of the operation of the universe, and "voila!"  
you have it.  Profit at the pockets of the unsuspecting, that is.

I do have an abacus  of the normal type.  Maybe I need one of those  
dual-mode ones.
