You AROs aren't the only folks afflicted with the boatanchor sickness. Some of us SWLs have the same psychosis.
I began with a Philco console at age 16 and listened to Radio Brazzaville every afternoon after high school, eventually assembling a hoard of QSLs from 60 countries. I was reinfected after a two year interruption in my twenties as a CT and began with an Allied Radio SX-190, moved on to a Drake R4C and R7A, then a 51J-4, a Racal RA17L, and eventually an R390A. After selling my three monsters the typical seller remorse set in, and now I'm too old to get my heel up high enough to kick myself in the butt for having done so. Fortunately, a compassionate multi-390A owner lent one of his babies to help me deal with my problem, and I'm a happier camper because of it.
My R7A lives on in my cluttered office/shack, atop the borrowed R390A, but it isn't half the fun of watching that counter roll around chasing DX. Now if I could only get my hands on a good RA17L again.....
