Sound simple enough.. No idea what the application would be.

Only a guess:  The top hats are arranged to replace the antenna relay  
function.  Biasing the rectifiers in two different configurations  
switches the antenna in, or out with the receiver input shorted.   
This could be operated fast enough for full break-in, perhaps.
