What a great idea!
BTW -- There is another way (besides fans) to get air moving --
chimneys. For years, my computers, radios, and audio equipment were
cooled by cardboard chimneys I fabricated. Generally, the bottom of
the chimney would be a "box" that snugly fits over the top of the
equipment. Each side of the "box" is topped with a trapezoid that,
when folded and sealed together, form a pyramid. At the top of the
pyramid, a square tube from 4-6" on a side and 3-5 feet tall
completes the chimney. Most folks would be amazed how much air a 3-5
foot chimney will move. And there's no noise.
Of course, this presupposes that there are vents in the top for the
hot air to exit the equipment and enter the chimney, and reasonably
placed vents for air to enter the radio at the bottom. If the
equipment has vents on the sides, but not the top, one could fit the
chimney to one side and let air enter on the other side, for
crossflow ventilation.
Best regards,
Don
