If that doesn't work, it might be possible to make a new pin out of 
suitable stock, drill-and-tap it for a small-enough screw, and fasten
it down with screw, lockwasher, Loc-Tite, suspenders, and belt. It all
sounds like fun for someone with a Unimat or a jeweler's lathe.
