Last I knew, the LNB output/receiver input is an L-band microwave 
signal.  AFAIK, the LNB block-converts the whole transponder payload 
(probably 500-800 MHz) from Ku-band to L-band, then the receiver 
demodulates what you select from the L-band feed.  If this is the 
scheme they are still using, the LNB LO will be in the Ku-band and 
the receiver LO will be in the L-band.  I doubt an LNB is at fault, 
and nothing that happens in the receiver should get to the dish.  In 
any case, the little dishes they use wouldn't have any gain, nor much 
directionality, at 30 MHz.
