I get the intermod reduction even when I just take the
ladder line and run it straight into the balanced input of
the 390A. The 390A is wonderful that way.
Now, it is true that the antenna coupler makes worlds
of difference on the rigs without a true balanced input.
(What I think is happening is that the local BCB stations
are inducing not differential-mode voltages on the antenna
as much as common-mode voltages against ground.)
I did not get such a wonderful advantage feeding the
antenna with coax. Going to ladder line made all the difference
in the world!
