I agree with Bob getting between the split gears is the big issue. I have
shoved a knife blade down between them enough to allow a flush out with
Gummout Carb cleaner. Be careful with that stuff though...it's potent.
I've had good luck also with plain ole mineral spirits in a spray bottle and
a tooth brush. Leaves behind an oily film which ain't all bad!
