[R-390] R-390A on Ebay

This radio was listed today with a $2000.00 opening bid and a $3000.00 
buy it now. Very nice receivers restored by Ripple do not get this kind 
of money.

Looking at the pictures, I see the following,

1.  Incorrect funky looking meters.
2.  Audio and Power supply transformers have had a bad paint can 
re-spray, no lettering etc. Some of the paint is still on the chassis, 
bad taping and clean up job after re-spraying.
3.  If Deck is loaded with Brown Beauties, will need to be recapped.
4. It looks like C-553 is still in place (the filter killer cap) on the 
If deck.
5. The brass gears are loaded with black grime.

This list was from a one minute quick look.

This is a quote from his Ebay ad "Occasionally the government would 
de-commission one of the radios that was never used.* " *

He is trying to give the impression of this being a mint receiver. In my 
opinion, it is a average condition receiver worth $500.00 to $750.00. Am 
I wrong?

Just curious, I rarely comment on anything anybody is selling, just kind 
could not believe what was being said about this receiver.
