[R-390] Interesting Stereo AM C-Quam 455KHz adapter on eBay

Saw this AM stereo C-Quam adapter on eBay and was wondering if it might work 
as an  AM sync detector also? Takes a standard 455KHz output so would work 
directly from an R-390A I.F. output. 
Would also turn an R-390A into an AM Stereo receiver. Might be worth looking 
into? May be fun to play with. Price is only $45.
