> Do eBay Collins prices follow the price of oil and gasoline?
Ebay has way too short of a timespan of data to really
follow the trends. And thinking that nothing existed before
Ebay or will exist after Ebay (we all know the Internet is
just a fad, right?) is just ludicrous. That said, let's mix
the non-Ebay prices with the E-bay prices:
Let's see, in 1970 dollars non-Collins (EAC) R-390A's
were advertised from $1700 (discount, qty 16) to
$2200 (full list).
Today we have data that shows they're in the $700 range.
In 1970 a gallon of gas cost $0.36, today it's closer to
$2.50. If the 390A's had appreciated as fast as gas,
they'd be $12000 and up.
Tim.
