[R-390] Radio Mart burned my @#$%$ again

Well, I've been burnt twice buying things from Martyn. The first was two
R-390A PTOs, represented as checked and working fine. One turned out to be a
non-A PTO, and the other had output but the endpoint was 40 KHz off. I sent
them back and Martyn refunded my money. I thought maybe he didn't know what
they were- (although he has lately represented himself as an expert rebuilder
of R-390As). The second was a T4XC which was represented as excellent, full
output, good signal reports. Not to be surprised again, I e-mailed Martyn and
asked about the condition of the chassis- he assured me it was just dusty.
When I got it, The front panel and chassis were dirty, with some spots of
chassis corrosion, and the power output on 10 m was about 20 watts. Again, he
offered me my money back, but the two-way shipping would have amounted to half
the cost of the radio. So I fixed the radio myself, but will never miss an
opportunity to let others know what a dishonest scoundrel he is.
The only consolation is that he rarely gets top dollar now despite his
glowing prose.
Ed
