Sorry, I fail to see what he did wrong.  You were apparently willing 
to pay up to $625.52, and he was willing to pay up to $629, so he won 
it.  If you were really willing to pay more than $625.52, you should 
have bid higher.  If you were not willing to pay more than $625.52, 
you have nothing to complain about, the fact that you were hoping to 
get it for $482 and had apparently counted your chickens before the 
auction ended notwithstanding.

In fact, it appears as if you both knew pretty much exactly what it 
was worth.  His winning bid was less than one "bid increment" above 
yours, so we know he bid exactly $629 for the radio.  Two bidders 
within $5 of each other on a $600+ item is pretty accurate market 
valuation, I'd say!
