The balanced twinax connectors are used on IBM AS/400 (and, IIRC, on 
IBM System/36 and System/38) minicomputers, as network connectors. 
They're easy to find here in the Oklahoma City area. 

I never heard of them being used in any audio gear at all; they seem 
awfully bulky for modern gear.
