     A most excellent point Doc - and well taken.  However: might I also 
'umbly offer that everything I have here, get *here* somehow - including a 
couple of things I bought from out thataway - some EMP-resistant TTY gear, 
IIRC.

   So let's say They try to level, say, Bismarck, ND.  And all electronic 
gear within a large radius is rendered into slag by EMP(s).  My old Toob 
Gear, in the event of such a national emergency, would of course be at the 
disposal of the Nation (myself included) and, if needed, could be trucked 
to Wherever...

  And this is all getting rather Art Bell-ish - no? ;}
