G'day list.....

Well, a few have asked why do it-- transplant that is. Apart from technical
reasons and the cliche type question," why climb Mnt Everest--- answer "because
it's there", an economic theme emerges... Out this way mech. filters are like
our rain free drought : they aren't thick on the ground, infrequent and costly on
the auction place .
For my part, relatively fire proof LC filter as in the IF/ R-390 module takes
a bit of the worry out of unwanted volts and aging filter suspensions.

Incidentally.... I had heavy distortion with a strong broadcast stations and AGC
switched to * slow* The AGC line V seemed a bit low but on impulse checked
the alinement of Z503, the tuning coil to the AGC amp. Result : as the AGC
volts increased, the distortion for same settings decreasd(naturally!). Off tune,
AGC levels assumed lower level as one might expect
Further investigation required as there's probably more to it .... any clues
?
Thanks
 Pete
