.I wonder how many people understand how important steam traction
engines where to the history of agriculture in the US, especially on
the The Great Plains and the Prairie Provinces in Canada.  these where
the only piece of mechanical gear available in the late 19th and early
20th century with the power to break the virgin sod on the plains so
the pioneer farmers could plant their crops of winter wheat, and,
barley.
