Ken- welcome! I'm curious about the AR-88. I'm in the process of restoring
an LF version and have had a few challenges. I would be interested in your
experiences with these radios. We can take it off the 390 reflector if the
group is not happy with the non-390 content!- Thanks- Roger WA3YTM

Hi everyone,

I have just joined 'the list' a few days ago. My name is Ken, I have
been interested in radio since I had my first Crystal Set at nine years
of age I am now thirty nine and been a ham the past six years.

I have a keen interest in BA's especially the 390 series and my current
'collection' stands at two RCA AR-88's, one R-390 and three R-390A's.
The 390 is a Motorola unit and the 390A's are Teledyne, Stewart Warner
ans EAC and all off them are my pride and joy (particularly the 390 and
the EAC). They all do operate...some better than others and each have
their own little quirks however none are anywhere near Spec so I intend
to fully restore all of them.

In that regard, I have just started work on the Stewart Warner I have
chosen to start with the Audio Deck as it seems to be the most straight
forward and I have decided that this one can be my test bed with the
idea that by the time I have finished it, my work will be first-class.

I will let you know how I go with it.

Kindest regards to everyone,
Ken
