I seriously doubt that not raising taxes had anything to do with a
bridge collapsing. Looking deeply into how the taxes are distributed
probably will show enough money for needs. I'm already taxed enough,
thank you. We cut taxes in the early 1980's and revenue increased by
something like 90% over the next couple of years. Taxes were raised
again and guess how long it took for revenue to drop.
