I share your dislike for excessive off-topic posts, but must say that 
of the dozen or so lists to which I subscribe, this one is near the 
top in terms of the percentage of (at least what I consider) on-topic 
posts.  Of course, the definition of "on topic" is itself 
subjective.  How much tangentially-related material makes the 
cut?  Since lots of R-390s are traded on eBay and shipped by UPS, 
some discussion of eBay and UPS is to be expected.  Similarly, many 
questions and discussions about other radios are fair game, either 
comparing them to R-390s or just because this is where knowledgeable 
folks hang out.

Anyway, generally speaking, I think list members here do pretty well 
both in selecting sufficiently-related topics and in not flogging 
off-topic threads to death.
