[R-390] IF Tran Resistors

If you snip the resistors in the IF transformers it will increase the gain like you wouldn't believe, but the signal to noise ratio will be lousy,  I spent a couple of hours the other day repairing a 75A4 for a friend and there was an excess of gain , eventually I traced it to the resistor in the IF trannie, my friend was a 6 meter fanatic and was using it as a tuneable IF ,  and at some time he had done the deed and then forgotten , regards to all.
