I thought it was thigh-slappingly funny, and didn't take a bit of offense.

We REALLY need to raise the tone of the posts to this reflector by 
using bigger words...like "mayonaise" and "delicatessan", and fancier 
English construction.

Reminds me of a joke:

Southern gentleman at Harvard looking for the library.

Says to one of the undergrads, "Say, can you tell me where the lie-
berry is at?

Snotty reply:, "Sir, we at Hah-vahd never end a sentence with a 
preposition."

Southern gent: "Fine. Can you tell me where the lie-berry is at, 
asshole?"
